Inborn Rights
In this month of November, with the theme, “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan,” this year’s celebration of the NCM is made extra special as it coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC).
It sets out the rights that must be realized for every child – the rights to survival, development, protection, and participation. It offers a vision of the child as an individual and as a member of a family and community, with rights and responsibilities appropriate to his or her age and stage of development. Despite Filipino children and their families' challenges in daily living compromising their human rights and benefits, this year’s celebration aims to celebrate the gains and successes of the country in promoting and protecting the children. Further, the theme is also crafted to intensify the public’s awareness and remind all sectors of the community and society to be responsible in raising-up the Filipino child to become a well-rounded person.
Every child has the right to be born well. Every child has the right to play and enjoy their youth. Every child has the right to access what they need to have a good life. Every child has the right to be protected from danger.
